Academic Year

The Upward Bound project academic year component consists of weekly tutoring at the target schools and two Saturday Sessions a month at Avila University.

Weekly tutoring sessions are held at Grandview and Ruskin High schools on Tuesday and Thursday respectively. Tutoring sessions are also held at Avila University campus on Wednesday. The sessions on Wednesday are by appointment. Students are required to make appointments for Wednesday tutoring sessions. Appointments must be made a week in advance. All weekly tutoring sessions are held from 2.35 to 4:05 pm (Grandview) or 2:50-4:20 (Ruskin). (For more details, refer to the student handbook.)

Students can get assistance in many academic areas.

Saturday Sessions are offered twice a month. The purpose of the sessions is to allow us to interact with students and provide workshops and seminars. They are required for all students in the program. (For more details, refer to the student handbook.)

Cultural and educational activities are held throughout the year. These activities are designed for experiential learning and to help the student develop into a well-rounded individual. All students are required to participate in one activity a month. Transportation is not provided for students to and from Avila University.
